RIP Brittany Murphy

Clueless is still one of my favorite films ever, so watching it will probably never quite be the same again.

'Rollin with the homies'.

Apparently 2009 just had to squeeze one more celebrideath in there. So very sad.

Noughties knickers.

It started with Carine a few weeks ago, but it seems that our beloved Vogue fashion editors can't get enough of D&G's black lace creations teamed with giant black Granny pants. Pictured above is Anna Della Russo. I think the real question is, what happens if Ms Wintour tries the look? Will that be the total end to the current trend, or will her Granny pants surpass them all? No doubt her perennial shades will be enough to protect her modesty should this fashion faux-pas ever occur!

That was me messing about while doing my hair for halloween. Dancing on my own for the benefit of iPhoto. Only for you, dear, undeserving, blog.

But also showing off my favourite new supersoft grey t-shirt dress. I love and applaud Susie Bubble's dedication to the cause, and can confirm that I am also hooked. This one is from Illustrated People and I bought it in Topshop for £3. Thanks to mid-season sales and valuedopinions.co.uk. Finally, it pays to know my Dairy Milk from my Galaxy. Mmm. Kit Kat Chunky thoughts...

A very Dickensian Halloween

I appreciate these snaps are awfully late, but you all ought to be used to that by now! For Halloween we went to a Murder mystery party, the theme being Dickensian, or Victorian London. My entire outfit was sources out of items already in my wardrobe and I think its probably fair to mention, if I was still a goth, I'd wear the whole ensemble out again tomorrow. With crazy ass hair extentions too!

Because I've just managed to devour the last in the series this weekend...

... I'm Team Edward all the way. Not that you'd expect any different from me of course. P.W.O.A.R. Total Vampire lust.

Oh Alexa.

To steal from Love, Actually, to me, you are (pretty much) perfect. Likewise to the Stella McCartney jumpsuit you are lounging about in. I love the deep neckline and the scalloped lace. Pretty pretty.

These boots weren't made for walking.

Oh honey. You know I love you right? So listen to me when I say please don't wear those shoes out again. I mean I totally get the Beetlejuice trousers, especially this close to Halloween. But you see the concentration in your face, the downward glance, the awkward posture? Yah? Well, its because the shoes are silly. Silly I tell you. Now go and be a good fashion icon and pop these in the cupboard to collect some dust and slip into a pair of Pigalles instead. And don't say I never look out for you.

Liar Lair

This is my would be Christmas present from JDC. Sadly just out of our price range at $1,500. Oh well, maybe if he starts saving now?

Shut up and drive

Yes, this is totally who you think it is. And while she could have done with wearing an over shoulder boulder holder, the new hair and darker lippy look totally rad. Love it Ri Ri. xoxo

What really grinds my gears.

Hi, I'm Peter Griffin. And you know what really grinds my gears? Flip flops. Let me tell you why. Because these are the lazy-mans choice of footwear. And as my counterpart Nikki knows, shoes are all. The change in seasons is upon us, there is a definite chill in the air. And if yesterdays downpour taught us anything, its that appropriate footwear is all. So why, oh why dear Londoners, were you still out in force this morning, in your coats and scarves with your pale pinkies still out on show? This is completely innapropriate! Remedy immediately.

If you are really stuck over what I'm trying to tell you, I give you three helpful questions on the subject. These are the three cardinal rules of flip-flops. Three questions you should ask yourself before stepping out the house in your plastic monstrosities.

1. Are you on a beach on holiday?
2. Have you just had a pedicure?
3. Do you actually refer to them as thongs, and are therefore Australian?

If the answer to all three is no, then you have no excuse. But if you think that Uggs are the answer then you will just have to wait until next weeks installment.

See you then.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

Hurrah. That is my smiley face as I'm trying my best to be cheerful. No, I don't know if I'll still have a job in two weeks time, but yesterday I updated my CV and sent off 10 job applications, so fingers crossed etc.

However the big grin is because I've spent the day downloading all the best pop ever. EVER! And who could fail to be happy when we have Beyonce in the world. Exactly. I've been asked to dj at a friend's club night in a few weeks which equals a woohoo and a mild bit of argh! I've never djed before, so I'm going to have a lesson on Thursday night. I think beatmatching and mixing might still be a bit out of my league, but hopefully I can manage to get everyone on the dancefloor. Rather than having a Cascada moment. Eeek!

Friday 21 August 2009

Red shoes, no knickers.

Such is the life of a part time employee. Today I have largely failed at applying for any of the jobs that have found their way into my inbox and instead have watched an absurd amount of Sugar Rush. Which, while it didn't make me want to be a lesbian, did leave me wishing I still tarted up for a night out. So clearly I tried to recreate my teenage dreams by schlepping on some high heels and a slick of Russian Red, and voila. Results shown above. I feel that the grey t-shirt and distinct lack of tan really take the look to the next level.

I really need a life.

Friday 31 July 2009

This little piggy went to market.

Oh dear, just when things seemed to be going so well, I have been struck down with suspected swine flu. Being confined to my bed, I am ever more thankful for my shiny new macbook. I've spent the best part of this week catching up on Gossip Girl (Blair and Chuck forever!), searching for random things on Spotify resulting in a bad rap, HOTEL MOTEL HOLIDAY IIIIIINNNNNNN scenario, and of course, watching all the Snog Marry Avoid BBC Iplayer has on offer. It is a guilty pleasure that will not quit, but I refuse to be ashamed. Tide marks be gone, natural beauty rules!

Did You Miss Me?

Just passing through as always, but this time its clearly to show off. This is me celebrating the end of the internship, by dressing up and getting papped by the Daily Mail standing next to the legendary Alex James. What the photo doesn't show you is that my right arm has sneakly snuck round his back. Whoopsie! I had gone over to say thanks for the fabulous show they had put on in Hyde Park the week before, and was thrilled by how charming he was about it all. Totally starstruck!

Was a great way to say goodbye to my (hopefully) final stint of free labour, as who else can say that they got to hang out with Kanyeezy and Pharrell at a work do. Quite.

Sunday 7 June 2009

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of may.

Ah, that line reminds me of playing the game on Encarta. Endless hours of strange snippets of knowledge. Perhaps if the internet hadn't have come along, I'd have become a pub quiz genius thanks to that fabulous thing.
But it did, and therefore I found a new love. And new ways to procrastinate. But oh, isn't this Jonathan Saunders dress just lovely. Its up on The Outnet for half its original retail price, but at £300 it is still more than this lowly intern can afford. However, if you do get paid to shift your arse out of bed and commute with people who like to read the Metro so much, they don't mind if they fall on you, disturbing your precious sleep as you sail through Dollis Hill, then please, go purchase here.
Oh yes, the blog neglect continues as work asked me to stay on for an extra month, which is very exciting and flattering, but sadly takes me no closer to my goal of actually being able to afford anything. My one extravagance this week was an oatmeal and raisin cookie. For £1.21. Is that really what 10 seconds of mild enjoyment costs these days? Actually, don't answer that.

All Aplogies

Image: Elle Magazine, by Fashionsquad
Another day, another woeful excuse. Again I've not been around much, and again I can only aplogise. Since I've last been here, blogspot has seen fit to log me out, the blog doesn't feature on my dropdown list of recently visited websites, and England has had a brief, but, rather exciting blast of Summer weather. So much so that I have even seen fit to abandon my ever present black Tabio opaques in favour of a pair of old 3/4 length H&M leggings, which for the past few years, have only had outings under the protection of knee high boots or at the gym. Whatever. Following a liberal dose of Garnier summer body self tan moisturiser I'm totally rocking them out(side).

Above is a photo of the fabulous Lykke Li, who I was lucky enough to catch (in the sunshine again, poor melatonin addled brain) at Lovebox last summer. She's still managing to be fab even though she appears to have lost half her leg in a scanning incident. But then, who doesn't wish they could do a bit of instant thigh minimisation every once in a while? I feel this is only working in my own head. I'll move on. Quickly. Here she is rocking out the stupendous Acne Fall 09 footwear, as seen in fashion week perched proudly on a pedestal. Just as they should be, perfectly majestic.

It was Miss Scarlet in the bedroom...

If ever there was a photo to show the haters what for, then this has to be it. I gawked at it no less than five minutes after prodding at my own rapidly ginger-ing mane, worrying when I would find the time to dye it back to dark brown again. Scarlet looks beyond sumptous here; I love the eye makeup and the matte but still there lips. Definitely one to try and copy once I've popped into Boots and picked up my two boxes of dye for a fiver. Bless these credit crunch times. A statement which immediately takes all the glamour out of everything. Oh well, for this mere mortal it will just have to do.

Phwoar ScarJo. Phwoar.

Sunday 22 March 2009

From Marni With Love.

Forgive me for the cheese on toast title, but I've spent the last few Sunday afternoons curled up in a hungover ball on JDCs lap watching old Bond movies.

How gorgeous are these? They remind me of the D&G ribbon/bows/broches belt that has been spotted in every editorial under the sun recenly. Such a simple diy idea, which will allow me to wear all my charity shop broch bling at once. I went through a phase of picking up anything shiny I could lay my hands on in the Sue Ryder shop in Bemondsey. Shiny things make me very happy.

In other news. Today was Mother's day, so we spent the afternoon rummaging through the racks at the 'Frock Me' vintage fashion fair, where I walked away with a very pretty pink sheer dress with silver diamante detailing. Photos to follow I'm sure. I just need to get a pretty slip to go under it, as I'm hoping the thick black tights will be banished from my daily wear as the weather hots up. But then, this is England and while we do love to talk about the weather, things never really do go to plan!

Right, its 21:54, which is far too late for me to be up on a schoolnight. An old friend is starting as an intern for the other Director tomorrow, so I need to be on form to show her the ropes (and at least get up early enough to fix my wayward fringe...)

Monday 16 March 2009

That's quite enough.

Oh my goodness. When I saw these I knew my own sequin leggings love affair was over. Up on ebay they went, and have sold this evening for a pleasing amount. No, I didn't advertise them with this picture! If ever there was an example of when trends go bad this is it.

Otherwise, I'm sorry that I've been neglecting the blog over the last few weeks. I started my internship at the Serpentine Gallery two weeks ago, and all the running around in the daytime means that I'm tucked up in bed by half nine every night with very little time to browse the internet, and much less time to go out shopping! This however is probably a good thing, since I'm not being paid at the moment and am therefore having to budget in quite a drastic manner, which is something I'm still getting used to. I just have to keep reminding myself how good this will look on my CV and how 3 months isn't actually such a long time when you consider that I'll be working for the rest of my life. Otherwise, there are always pictures like the one above just to remind you how silly fashion can sometimes be! Nothing quite like a wardrobe purge to make one feel frugal!

I'm gonna walk all over you.

Daphne Guiness is fierce. This is just the latest addition to a long list of proof of that fierceness. A well deserved thanks to Tommy for capturing her prowling around town in these specially customised House of Harlot platforms.

This is the new shit.

Daria looking simply stunning. If this isn't inspiration to get myself down the gym I don't know what is. I feel a diy coming on with that vest as well...

Photos of Magazine from Friday. Blurry but possibly better that way, as it reminds me of the sinister the way the music stucks you in and spits you back out with every chord. What a fantastic night.

Monday 16 February 2009

I take picutres, photographic pictures.

The internet was a somewhat cruel and evil temptress before I went out on Friday night, as the support act for Magazine was not Linder, but Ipso Facto, an all girl four piece I was previously unfamiliar with.
However, as the photos illustrate, this was not necessarily a bad thing. Four stunning girls with identical haircuts, straddling the fashion states of Ladytron and Kraftwerk while rocking out like Marilyn Manson during his short lived (but fabulous) glam phase.

Happy MRRSSY day Y'all!

Years of Refusal is out today and you can buy your copy on Amazon. Go! Now!
I make no apologies for the photo, because everyone loves a naked Moz and his gang.

Friday 13 February 2009

My force of habit, I am an insect.

I can't wait to see Magazine at the Forum tonight. I'm especially excited as I have just read on the band's website that 'Linder' is supporting them. Her link to Magazine is clear, she created their early album artwork and was a former girlfriend of frontman Howard Devoto. Yet my excitement stems from the fact the article mentioned she will be wearing new designs by Richard Nicoll, as a preview to his runway show at Fashion Week. I'm very intrigued since I've only recently become aware of his designs, my favourite being his acid pink and orange two tone t-shirt. Fashion and music. The best combination there ever was.
Make way for the motorcade.

Happy birthday to you. You live in a Zoo...

Image: Numero 100 - Birthday Edition

Yesterday was my birthday and I turned 24. I went for an interview yesterday for a potential internship at a rather well known London Art Gallery. I'm fairly certain I blew my chances when I pointed out to my interviewer that my possible boss sounded a great deal like Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada. Really.
However, the rest of the day went down in smashing style. I wore a navy silk dress with my Gucci pumps and got the hiccups over wine and noodles with a few friends. Perfect. This weekend also looks set to be a Post-Punk winner, Magazine and a talk with Simon Reynolds of 'Rip it Up,' fame, with Valentines squished in the middle for fun. Can't wait!
